Frequently Asked Questions

What is EAL?

Equine-Assisted Learning is a learner based educational experience with horses. Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses.

What group sizes do you work with?

As small as 1 person and to a maximum of 6 people per Session. Have a larger group? Give us a shout and we will find a solution.

What Should I bring?

Closed shoes, hat or cap, sunscreen, bring your bottle of water or you can purchase a small bottle of water for 1 Dollar.

Youth and children need to bring a signed liability form and the permission for taking pictures and for using them on social media. Or to sign that they do not want to give permission.

Do I need to Pay Up-Front?

We do ask for a deposit which is not refundable due to booking arrangements.  The outstanding amounts need to be paid on the day of the first workshop.

Do I need experience with Horses?

Absolutely not. Our program does not require you to ride a horse so no prior experience is necessary. We inform every group of the rules and safety precautions to take around the animals and the arena. We always put safety first and we can accommodate everyone’s different comfort levels around the horses.

What if I’m scared or don’t like Horses?

No worries! If you aren’t being pushed out of your comfort zone, you aren’t learning. This is an opportunity to overcome your fears or preconceived notions. Some of the people who have attended our workshops have started out petrified, but by the end of the program, they have all learned more about themselves and overcome their fear.

Do we ride the Horses?

No. All of our work is out of the saddle. You will work along side the horses as part of your team for the best and true reaction of the horse and the most beneficial way of learning for you. This way the horse can be it’s true self and not be “on the job”.

Do I need certain clothing?

Although chaps and a pair of cowboy boots aren’t required, we do have certain safety requirements when it comes to your clothing. Simple things like closed toe shoes and dressing in clothes that you are ok with getting a little dusty.

Are you certified?

Yes!

Edith Rampa was certified through the internationally recognised Certified Equine-Assisted Learning Course at the Academy of Equine Assisted Learning (Based in Canada) a leading organisation in EAL. The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning is the only organisation that offers the BuildingBlock™ Certified Equine-Assisted Learning Program©.

Are you insured?

Yes we carry extensive insurance for ourselves and those who attend our course.

Is it dangerous?

The horses are selected very carefully. There are no bucking broncos here. You will be 100% safe. We also do safety training to ensure you know everything you need to know.

I’m allergic

Knowing is half the battle! Just be sure to take an allergy pill before you come. We learned from participants that the allergy pills will do the trick.

What if I’m scared of or don’t like Horses?

Fantastic. Some of the people who have come to us before have been petrified, but by the end of the program, they have probably learned more about themselves and overcome their fear. Of all of the people we have had come with a fear of horses, all have been able to participate.
